Agrium earnings edge up to $99m in Q3

The Canadian fertiliser producer saw Q3 profits rise on 2014 levels owing to increased volumes after its Vanscoy potash mine expansion and lower international gas prices, which massaged gross profits in the company’s nitrogen division.

Calgary, Canada-headquartered fertiliser major Agrium Inc. reported net earnings of $99m for Q3 2015, up slightly on 2014’s figure of $91m.

The business saw higher volumes and lower costs in both its nitrogen and potash fertiliser arms following maintenance and lower international gas prices, leading to an increase in gross profits,...
