Oman set to become world’s fourth largest gypsum producer by 2018

With demand for gypsum increasing from India, Japan, Taiwan and other Asian countries, Oman is filling the production gap left by supply shortages from Thailand, where the mineral has become heavily regulated.
Gypsum exports from Oman are set to reach an estimated 10m
tonnes by 2018, which would make the Sultanate of Oman the
fourth largest gypsum producer globally.
According to figures from Zawawi Minerals LLC in Oman, this
number could potentially reach around 12m tonnes of exports by
2020.
