Protestors call on Andhra Pradesh to cancel bauxite government order

Fears over environmental pollution and the mistreatment of aboriginal peoples have led to a frosty attitude of local people with the Andhra Pradesh government over bauxite mining permits.

The Andhra Pradesh government in India was asked to remove an order allowing the mining of bauxite in Visakhapatnam district by several speakers at a seminar on the impact of mineral extraction held by the People for India and Uttarandhra Abhivriddi Vedika organisations on Wednesday.
