Government to have final say on Cuadrilla’s Lancashire fracking appeal

Invoking the “recovery” procedure, the UK’s Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government will now make a ruling on the company’s unconventional drilling appeal himself.

The UK’s Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Greg Clarke, will make the ultimate decision on whether to let explorer Cuadrilla Resources Ltd proceed with plans to extract gas by means of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) at two sites in Lancashire, northern England.
