Israel’s NPBC takes ICL one step closer to mining Sde Barir phosphates

Failure to secure permission to mine Sde Barir phosphates would have had a significant impact on Israel Chemicals’ phosphate operations, according to a union employee at the company. Fortunately for the company, the NPBC found that the site would produce no greater an effect on public health than a standard infrastructure project.
The National Planning and Building Council
(NPBC) of Israel has approved a policy document regarding the
mining and quarrying of industrial minerals, setting Israel
Chemicals Ltd (ICL) further along the path of developing the
Sde Barir phosphate deposit, located just south of the West
Bank area of Israel.
