Chennai port targets industrial minerals

The East Indian port is sizing up its opportunities to increase shipments of barite, granite, and fertiliser ahead of an anticipated decline in coal imports.

India’s Chennai port is trying to encourage additional industrial minerals shipments to offset an expected decline in coal volumes.

The Chennai Port Trust (ChPT) has commenced its Mission Resurge Chennai Port – 2016 initiative, which is looking to increase cargoes of barite (barytes), granite and fertilisers.
