SQM shares jump as major shareholder begins to sell stake

Share value in the lithium producer rose almost 9% on Friday following the news that Oro Blanco, one of a number of holding companies through which former chairman Julio Ponce owns a stake in SQM, is looking to sell its shares.

Shares in Chile’s Sociedad de Quimica y Minera SA (SQM) rose by 8% last Friday following the revelation that one of the holding companies through which former chairman Julio Ponce indirectly controls the miner had begun to sell off its stake.
