Slow exports drag down Chinese rare earths prices

Weakness blamed on Christmas holidays in purchasing destinations but some expect market to stabilise in January.

Prices for rare earths have been flat to weak in the second half in December, with a lack of contract deals in the export market causing suppliers to reduce prices in efforts to liquidate stock.
