PPG to increase precipitated silica capacity as demand grows

The company is once again increasing capacity at its Lake Charles facility, in addition to considering additional European and North American expansions as consumption for precipitated silica rises.

Coatings and glass manufacturer PPG Industries plans to increase precipitated silica production by 10,000 tpa at its Lake Charles facility in Louisiana, US.

The company plans to achieve the increase via debottlenecking projects currently underway, with additional capacity expected to come online in H2 2016.
