Albemarle to produce 70,000 tpa lithium carbonate in Chile under new deal

An MoU between the US Chemicals major and the Chilean government outlines a partnership for Albemarle’s continued operation in the Salar de Atacama and provides the company with a sense of security as the South American nation moves to overhaul its lithium policy.

NYSE-listed Albemarle Corp. will be able to produce up to 70,000 tpa lithium carbonate and 6,000 tpa lithium chloride from its operations in Chile under the terms of a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Chilean government.
