Salt to prop up Botash profits as soda ash demand stutters

The Botswanan minerals producer expects its new line of retail salt products to maintain a robust balance sheet for the company, as soda ash consumption in Africa’s glass and chemicals sector fails to grow at a significant pace.

Soda ash and salt producer Botswana Ash Pty Ltd (Botash) said it expects its operations to remain profitable in 2016, as the company’s move into the retail salt market is expected to help compensate for softer demand and prices for soda ash.
