Southern Ionics to cut staff and output at Georgia mineral sands operations

The US mining company said it has been forced to lay off staff in response to the ongoing downturn in demand for titanium minerals, but said it retains a positive long-term outlook for the market.

Southern Ionics Minerals LLC, which operates zircon and titanium mining and processing plants in Charlton and Pierce counties in Georgia, US has announced it will cut the number of staff it employs in response to the protracted downturn in prices and demand for mineral commodities.
