Mexichem’s 2015 earnings hit by currency and sluggish fluorine market

Sales in the Mexican company’s fluent and fluor divisions fell by 3% and 5%, respectively, last year, although its overall earnings before tax rose by 10% EBITDA, however, as other parts of its business performed better year-on-year.

World-leading chlorine and fluorine chemicals producer Mexichem SA de CV has reported a drop in earnings for the fourth quarter of 2015, but stable overall margins for the full year, despite negative impacts from currency and the weakening fluorine market.
