Chilean government will not block a foreign takeover of SQM

The country’s environment minister has said that offers from abroad will not be stopped as speculation mounts over the purchase of a stake put up for sale late last year.
Authorities in Chile will not interfere
with any attempt from abroad to take control of lithium, potash
and iodine producer Sociedad de Quimica y Minera
SA (SQM).
The country’s mining minister, Aurora Williams,
made the announcement, reported by Reuters newswire, at the
Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC)
conference in Toronto yesterday....
