Magnesita DBM sales prop up lacklustre full year results

The Brazilian refractories producer’s earnings figures highlight the importance of its industrial minerals offering in a tough steel market, as well as the favourable currency effect.

Magnesita Refratarios SA pointed to higher deadburned magnesia (DBM) sales as offsetting the impact of a lacklustre steel market in its 2015 results, released late yesterday.

The Brazillian refractories and minerals producer posted a net loss of Brazilian real (R)1.06bn ($288m*), compared to a net loss of R97m ($264m) the previous year....
