Legality of email seizures key to SQM political payments case

Procedural questions relating to the admissibility of email correspondence between former SQM CEO, Patricio Contesse, and former Chilean senator, Pablo Longueira, are set to be central to an investigation into alleged bribery by the lithium, potash and iodine producer. If the evidence is excluded from consideration in the case, it will likely nullify any criminal liability held by both Contesse and Longueira, as well as undermining further cases against other political figures connected with the allegations.
