Major buyers in the dark about prices of 2017 lithium contracts

Large battery companies are as yet unsure what price range is likely to be implemented on 2017 contracts when negotiations occur in Q4, with prices this year having already reached unprecedented levels. There is some indication that the Chinese spot price may be settling, meanwhile.

Large lithium buyers remain unclear as to what level 2017 annual contracts will settle at when they are negotiated in the latter part of this year.

Battery producers buying on an annual contract basis said they had no indication what price range they might be presented with, while suppliers remain tight lipped....
