Oversupply weakens metspar outlook

A rebound in China’s steel output saw domestic demand increase for metallurgical grade fluorspar. However the industry has been inundated by low-cost suppliers looking to benefit from the seasonal uptick in traditional downstream markets.

A recovery in demand for metallurgical grade fluorspar (metspar) owing to increased steel numbers reported out of China was short-lived as additional low-cost supply in Asia pulled the market down to new lows.

IM sources said that steel plants in China are resuming operations as prices for the commodity...
