Malaysian bauxite mining ban extended to eight months

Bauxite mining in Malaysia has been prohibited since January, and the latest extension adds two more months to the ban as the country seeks to reduce its stockpile and curb pollution.

The Malaysian government has extended its ban on domestic bauxite mining for another two months, pushing the end date from 15 July to 14 September 2016 in a bid to reduce existing stocks.
