Rio reports constant borates revenue; TiO2 drops off

In line with its recent production figures, there was no major movement in Rio’s H1 financial results for its borates business, while titanium dioxide feedstock division saw earnings dip.

Anglo Australian miner Rio Tinto Plc reported net earnings of $63m for Rio Tinto Minerals, its borates business, during the first half of 2016, more or less even with the $65m reported in H1 2015.

Revenue for the division was $309m, down 4% on the $323m reported in the same period...
