Ahead of the US presidential election in November, democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has appointed former interior secretary, Ken Salazar, to chair her presidential transition team - a move that was seen by some as positive for the struggling fracking industry.

The appointment of Salazar comes as welcome news to the hydraulic fracturing (fracking) industry, as he has illustrated in the past that he is supportive of the oil and gas industry, which has suffered due to sustained low oil and gas prices and overcapacity in the sector.
