Chinese alumina output drops

Alumina production decreased by almost 2% in the first seven months of 2016 while environmental inspections at plants continue and the local industry tries to consolidate.

Chinese alumina output in July was 1.5% down year-on-year (y-o-y) at 2.66m tonnes, the China Bureau of Statistics announced earlier this month.

Total output from January to July stood at 17.98m tonnes, down 1.9% y-o-y.
