Buyout of SQM could end CORFO standoff

Fresh ownership of the Chilean miner may end an ongoing legal battle with the state, allowing the company expand its operations, sources have told IM.

A change in controlling ownership of SQM could result in an end to the ongoing dispute between Sociedad Quimica y Minera SA (SQM) and state economic body Corporacion de Fomento de la Produccion (CORFO).

SQM, a producer of lithium, iodine, potash and phosphate, has been at loggerheads with the state body...
