China boosts fluorspar trade amid weak prices

Despite weak downstream demand and excessive capacities preventing recovery, China managed to register a surge in fluorspar trade for both metallurgical and acid grade, although average prices decreased to four-year lows.

China managed to retain its lead in fluorspar exports despite the continued slowdown in the fluorochemical industry, as the country registered a 57.5% year-over-year (y-o-y) increase in metallurgical grade fluorspar (metspar) shipments and a 4.4% rise in acid grade (acidspar) exports during the first seven months of 2016.
