China boosts fluorspar trade amid weak prices

Despite weak downstream demand and excessive capacities preventing recovery, China managed to register a surge in fluorspar trade for both metallurgical and acid grade, although average prices decreased to four-year lows.
China managed to retain its lead in
fluorspar exports despite the continued slowdown in the
fluorochemical industry, as the country registered a 57.5%
year-over-year (y-o-y) increase in metallurgical grade
fluorspar (metspar) shipments and a 4.4% rise in acid grade
(acidspar) exports during the first seven months of 2016.
