Tianqi board approves WA lithium hydroxide plant

The company cited transport efficiency as a factor in locating the plant in Australia, where it will be close to its spodumene feedstock source at Greenbushes. It also indicated it intends to increase concentrate production levels at the site, in conjunction with JV partner Albemarle.
China’s Tianqi Lithium Corp.
has been given the go ahead to a 24,000 tpa lithium hydroxide
facility in Kwinana, Western Australia.
The company expects to begin construction of the facility in
the next two months, at a total cost of Australian dollar (A$)
