German authority may delay Iluka-SRL merger

The timing of the merger between mineral sands producers Iluka Resources and Sierra Rutile may be delayed by up to three months while German authorities investigate the case further prior to giving clearance.

The German Antitrust Authority told Iluka Resources Ltd and Sierra Rutile Ltd on 5 September that it had referred the proposed merger to a so-called Phase 2 review – a process that can take up to 90 days to complete.
