NY meeting boosts support for Montreal Protocol amendment

Ahead of official negotiations at the Montreal Protocol Meeting of the Parties in Rwanda next month, the US hosted a gathering of countries in New York to rally support for the earlier phase-out of HFCs. More than 100 countries called for an “early freeze date” on their use, while $80m was pledged in support to countries in need of assistance in improving energy efficiency.
