Asia leads world steel production growth in August

While China registered a 3% y-o-y increase in crude steel production, Japan managed growth at 1.5% from corresponding figures in 2015, with India topping the chart with a 9.4% increase in its crude steel production.

World crude steel production reached 134.1m tonnes in August 2016, registering a rise of 1.9% year-over-year (y-o-y), as output was buoyed by an increase in Asian steel production mainly driven by India, China and Japan, according to industry body World Steel Association (worldsteel).
