IBAR-Cofermin deal eyes EU magnesia market

IBAR is aiming to provide European buyers with an alternative source of dead burned magnesia, but aggressive prices from China and slow demand for refractory magnesia products in Europe may pose hurdles to market penetration.

Cofermin Minerals GmbH & Co. and Brazilian producer IBAR Nordeste have signed an agreement for the distribution of dead burned magnesia (DMB) in Europe, aimed at providing an alternative source of supply other than China for refractory material buyers, the German company told IM.
