Steel demand set to grow in '17, says worldsteel

Steel consumption is expected to remain challenging in the next two years although China is looking better than it used to which, along with growth in emerging economies, is preventing further decreases in demand.

Global steel demand is forecast to remain almost flat at +0.2% in 2016 full year following last year’s 3% contraction, while 2017 consumption is expected to grow 0.5% to 1.51bn tonnes, according to the latest Short Range Outlook by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
