Daimler to build second German Li-ion factory

Construction of the new plant marks the automaker’s further commitment to electrification as electric vehicles move further into the international spotlight.

German car manufacturer Daimler AG has begun construction of a second lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery factory in Kamenz, in the east German province of Saxon.

The facility is due to enter operation in mid-2018 and will be located next to its existing battery factory, which has been producing since 2012.
