Silica sand demand to grow by 5% in N America: Freedonia

Weak energy prices will continue to affect demand for silica sand in fracking applications, although other end uses are expected to show a clearer growth trend, including construction, chemicals and flat glass.

Demand for silica sand in North America is forecast to continue growing between now and 2020 although low energy prices will keep new drilling activity at a lower level than in previous years, according to latest industry research data.
