Speciality alumina sales drive Tor Minerals Q3 results

Sales and profit increased year-on-year as the company's speciality alumina business continued to grow, despite lower volumes and prices in titanium dioxide pigments.

US-based Tor Minerals International reported a 12% increase in third quarter net sales as increases in speciality aluminas offset lower activity in titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigments.

The company also moved into net profit, with income totalling $291m compared with a loss of $121m the previous year.
