BYD commences lithium projects in Qinghai

The carmaker is targeting large-scale battery production in the Qinghai lithium district, where authorities have set ambitious targets to develop local capacity for production of carbonate and anode materials for electric vehicles.

BYD Auto, the largest producer of electric vehicles (EV) in China, is setting up a new company to take charge of two of its own projects for lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery production and battery material production and recycling in Qinghai, one of China’s leading processing districts for lithium.
