Malaysian bauxite stockpiles remain high

The country has banned bauxite mining for 11 months now, although the latest inspections appear to show high outstanding inventories of the mineral. The ban, which is due to last until 31 December, might now be renewed into 2017.

Malaysian authorities stated that bauxite inventories in the country may not have decreased as much as previously hoped despite the ongoing moratorium on mining of the mineral.
