Calcined alumina contract prices stable in 2017

Higher raw material costs have failed to lift long-term contract prices for calcined alumina in 2017, as excess supply continued to outstrip demand.
Calcined alumina long-term contract prices in 2017 were
largely unchanged from the previous year as excess supply
outweighed demand and higher raw material costs.
Despite increases in raw material alumina prices since
September 2016, calcined alumina prices remain under pressure
as global production continues to outstrip the weak demand.
