Indonesia eases bauxite export ban

Indonesia’s relaxing of export regulations to partially allow foreign sales of bauxite may ease the tightness in alumina feedstock for white fused alumina production in China, while other non-metallurgical bauxite markets are expected to remain short.

Indonesia’s decision to ease its ban on the exports of mining commodities including bauxite may improve availability of alumina feedstock to white fused alumina processors in Asia, although the current shortage in refractories and abrasives will continue.
