Brazilian ATH exports surge in 2016

Deliveries of alumina trihydrate to the US increased over 200% as local capacity reduced following the shutdowns of Alcoa and Sherwin’s refineries, while also Japan and Argentina boosted their imports of Brazilian ATH.

Brazilian exports of alumina trihydrate (ATH) increased by almost 50% throughout 2016 as demand surged in leading destinations including the US and Japan, trade data shows.

Total exports of ATH from the Latin American producer reached 737,179 tonnes in 2016, according to Brazilian customs data, marking a 47% hike...
