Mining Indaba '17: Trader offtakes a key source of financing for miners

Financing from banks has failed to return to the mining sector since the recession leaving offtake agreements as a key source of revenue to junior minors, delegates heard at 2017 Mining Indaba in Cape Town last week.

Trading houses can offer miners a key source of revenue that is mutually beneficial in an environment where traditional routes of project funding remain scarce for miners and traders are in need of new supply sources, Noble Group’s Sariel Polatinsky said.
