Rio's borates, salt production falls in Q1 as TiO2 slag output jumps

Both borates and salt production declined in Q1 as TiO2 slag output grew substantially reflecting "higher demand".

Production of borates and salt at Rio Tinto fell 3% and 39% respectively year-on-year (y-o-y) in Q1 2017 while titanium dioxide (TiO2) slag saw double-digit growth.
