Ilmenite holds firm, rutile welding price rises

Welding grade rutile prices have strengthened this week on tighter supply in the market, while ilmenite remains stable amid strong demand.

Rutile prices have remained largely stable this week, but some market participants have indicated to IM that welding grade rutile may now be fetching over $1,000/tonne CIF China.
Rutile supply is tightening over the short to medium term, market participants said, and while "demand for pigment production is certainly helping"...
