Lithium market stable as 2018 negotiations get underway

Global lithium spot prices remain stable as market participants start negotiations for 2018 contracts. Consumers and suppliers showed divided price sentiment but both anticipate higher prices for the forthcoming year.

Lithium consumers and suppliers are using a relatively stable period in the spot market to position themselves for 2018 contract negotiations.

While there is general agreement among buyers and sellers that the trend in price is higher consumers continue to push for lower contract prices next year.
