Magnesita posts higher H1 revenues but swings to net loss

The refractory maker posted record sales of dead burned magnesia but a combination of higher costs and negative exchange rate effects, as well as expenses related to the ongoing merger process with RHI, affected profitability.

Brazilian refractory supplier Magnesita Refratários SA saw double-digit revenue growth in the first half of the year on the back of higher sales to the steel industry and record magnesia demand, although profitability was negative, the company announced on 14 August.
