Strong demand, weak dollar lifts metspar spot prices in Europe

Spot metspar prices in Europe strengthened in mid-September following months of stability as the supply shortage in China finally bites. The strong euro against the dollar has also encouraged buying amid improving demand.

Metallurgical-grade fluorspar (metspar) spot prices rose in Europe over the past week as strong demand from the steel industry and a weak dollar supported the market.

Metspar is used as a fluxing material for steel making and stronger demand in this sector has increased metspar consumption in Europe and China.
