UniteCR ’17: Increased pressure from customers to negotiate 2018 contracts

Several buyers of refractory minerals are already seeking to settle next year’s contracts to lock in prices and volumes, but suppliers claim volatility is too high now to commit to earlier-than-normal negotiations.

Suppliers of refractory minerals have reported pressure on the part of their buyers to negotiate contracts for 2018 already, as consumers aim to secure material at a time of short supply, IM heard at the UniteCR 2017 refractory conference in Santiago, Chile.
