Clampdown on silicon carbide production causes drop in Chinese exports

Chinese silicon carbide exports drop amid the ongoing clampdown on production at the end of the summer while the European market remained fairly stable.

Chinese exports of silicon carbide fell in August 2017 month-on-month (m-o-m) as the governments efforts to reduce pollution levels restricts domestic production levels.

Consumers in Europe told IM  that Chinese silicon carbide supply has been almost disrupted and many are now relying on European production.
