Preferred boss sees opportunity in finer-mesh frac sand

The company is pushing forward with its Texas project, funded by $80 million raised through the sale of Wisconsin and Canadian assets.

A shift in fracking techniques means that lower-mesh regional sand will remain the favored grade in the Permian Basin, even as Wisconsin supply remains competitive in the Canadian oil fields, Preferred Sands president and chief operating officer TJ Doyle told IM.
