Outokumpu invests $293mln in Kemi chrome ore mine

Finnish ferro-chrome producer Outokumpu will invest €250 million ($293 million) in 2017-2020 to secure continuous chrome ore supply from its Kemi mine in Finland for the coming decades, the company said.

The company, which owns the Kemi chrome mine and the Tornio ferro-chrome production plant in Finland, produces around 1.3 million tonnes per year of chrome ore and 530,000 tpy of ferro-chrome, accounting for about 5% of world charge grade ferro-chrome.
