South African chromite sales down in summer months

Domestic sales and exports of South African chromite both dropped by more than a third from pre-summer levels while Chinese chrome imports fell by double-digit rates in the same period.

Production of high-purity chromite in South Africa stabilized early in the summer while sales of the mineral dipped after a peak in May, the latest data shows.

Total production of chromite with 44-48% Cr2O3 content from South African operations exceeded 185,000 tonnes in both June and July, according to figures...
