Sheffield's Thunderbird mineral sand project faces legal setback

The miner, which says it acted in good faith in negotiations with traditional land owners, does not expect the 62-million-tonne ilmenite project to be delayed.

Sheffield Resources has hit a legal obstacle in its development of the Thunderbird mineral sand project in Kimberly, Australia, in the form of a dispute with traditional landowners.

The Full Federal Court has upheld a native title appeal, Sheffield said, in a process designed to protect the interests of local aboriginal groups....
